Bajaj Freedom CNG clocked sales of just 505 units in Dec 2025, which is its lowest since the launch in Jul 2024 in India
Bajaj Freedom CNG was launched in Jul 2024 amidst much fanfare in the Indian market. Touted as a ‘gamechanger’ and the ‘world’s first CNG motorcycle,’ it was introduced in three variants at a starting price of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). Now, the sales of the bike have hit an all-time low of 515 units in Dec 2025. The Freedom CNG had its fair share of success when the monthly sales surpassed 30,000 units in Oct 2024. However, since then, it has witnessed a downward trajectory with volumes sliding down each month.
Starting with Jul 2024, the month it debuted in the market, Bajaj Auto dispatched 1,933 units of the CNG-powered bike. However, in Aug 2025, the sales volumes almost quadrupled, with 9,215 units being retailed. The next month, i.e., Sep 2024, was even better for the Freedom CNG, as sales touched 19,639 units. It was during the festive season of Diwali in Oct 2024 when the bike clocked its highest-ever monthly sales with 30,051 units.
However, in Nov 2024, Bajaj Freedom CNG sales fell flat, with merely 5,953 units being sold. It culminated the CY 2024 with total sales of 70,964 units, with 4,173 units retailed in the last month of the year, i.e., Dec 2024. Hence, within six months of its launch, the Freedom CNG received an overwhelming response from the buyers across the country with an average monthly sale of around 12k units.
Come 2025, and the downward trend in sales began for the Freedom CNG as it recorded volumes of just 1,345 units, 1,027 units, and 1,394 units in Jan, Feb, and Mar, respectively. Overall, Bajaj could sell only 3,766 units of the bike in the first quarter of 2025. April 2025 was even worse as sales numbers sank further and fell in triple digits for the first time at 993 units.
Though it made some recovery in the subsequent months of May, June, and July, with sales rising in each month to 1,037 units, 1,699 units, and 1,909 units, respectively. But it wasn’t adequate for the stature of the world’s first CNG motorcycle. In Aug 2025, the sales stood at 1,858 units, while Sep 2025 and Oct 2025 were also insipid with volumes of 3,278 units and 2,152 units, respectively, despite the cut in GST rates and arrival of the festive season.
In Nov 2025, the sales slid further to 1,011 units, and Dec 2025 was the final nail in the coffin for the Freedom 125 CNG as sales dropped to an all-time low of 515 units. The CNG-powered model, which looked so promising at the time of its launch, has gradually lost its charm and appeal among the buyers, as they seem to have drifted towards conventional fuel options such as petrol-powered models and fully electric ones.
