Skoda Kodiaq Recalled – What’s the issue?

Any guesses? Well, it is the Skoda Kodiaq! The recall revolves around a faulty front seat frame. According to reports, certain units of the Skoda Kodiaq manufactured between March 10, 2025, and December 8, 2025, have been equipped with seat frames that were not properly welded. The recall affects more than 221 units from a single batch. The campaign includes units from the latest batch currently sold in the Indian Market.
Now, how does this affect safety? In the event of a rear-end collision, a poorly welded seat frame may fail to properly deploy the airbags. This defect can compromise the reliability of the side airbags during an emergency deployment, risking passenger safety. This defect may prevent the airbags from deploying properly and will affect the total functionality of the airbag system, causing serious harm to passengers. According to the Society of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) website, the edge of the front seat’s inner frame can affect the protection provided by the side airbag upon activation in an impact. Safety is one of Skoda’s core strengths. So the company is taking proactive steps to fix the issue.
