Tata Safari EV

Tata Safari EV - Tata's New SUVTata Safari EV - Tata's New SUV

The Safari isn’t just another SUV in Tata’s lineup. When it first arrived on Indian roads, it changed how people thought about homegrown cars. Over the years, it evolved, gaining technology, refining its ride, and growing into a premium family haulier that competes with some tough global rivals. The Safari name carries weight, and Tata knows it.

This won’t simply be a Harrier EV with an extra row of seats. It is expected to be Tata’s flagship electric SUV. This car sits at the very top of the brand’s EV lineup and signals just how serious Tata is about leading India’s electric transition.

Tata Safari EV – Platform And Architecture

Platform And ArchitecturePlatform And Architecture

Under the skin, the Safari EV will be built on Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev+ platform, the same advanced architecture that underpins the Harrier EV. This platform has been specifically developed to accommodate larger battery packs, deliver better efficiency, and enable more sophisticated electrical systems. The platform is adapted from Tata’s existing ICE architecture. It allows the Safari EV to reach the market faster and keeps development costs in check, so Tata can potentially pass the savings on to buyers through competitive pricing.

The Safari EV will be offered in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, catering to buyers who want the practicality of a third row as well as those who prefer the comfort of captain seats in the middle. Boot space will remain generous.

Battery And Range

Two battery options are widely expected on the Safari EV: a 65 kWh pack and a larger 75 kWh unit. The Harrier EV currently claims a range of up to 627 km with its larger battery. Given that the Safari EV is a bigger, heavier vehicle with three rows of seating, its real-world range will likely settle slightly lower, but estimates of 500 km or more on a full charge are entirely realistic. That figure would put it comfortably ahead of the Kia Carens Clavis EV’s 490 km top-spec range, and within striking distance of the VinFast VF MPV 7’s claimed 517 km. Against the XUV 9S’s headline-grabbing 679 km, the Safari EV will have some catching up to do, but Tata’s stronger charging network and brand trust could easily make up for it.

Tata Safari EV – Design

DesignDesign

Don’t expect a dramatic redesign. The Safari EV will carry the same muscular, imposing stance that has always been the SUV’s signature. What are the finer details that mark it out as an electric vehicle? Expect a closed-off front grille, EV-specific aerodynamic alloy wheels, subtle electric badging, and updated bumpers front and rear. The lighting signatures are expected to be refreshed too, continuing Tata’s strong recent track record with LED DRLs and connected light bars that look absolutely premium.
