The SUV space in India is as big as ever; it’s currently the dominating segment in the country. As a result, it has become the centre of attraction for many automakers around the world. We will witness a new brand and its completely new SUV this festive season. Yes, we are talking about JSW Motors and its upcoming SUV based on the Jetour T2. And here is everything you need to know about this unique SUV- 

JSW Motors Jetour T2- 

With the goal of capturing 33% of India’s EV market by 2030. The Jetour T2 will become the first-ever product from JSW Motors. This won’t be sold as a CKD unit, unlike in various other countries around the world. JSW Motors will be locally assembling the Jetour T2 with some changes. The new automaker is aiming to make a big impact with this SUV, and here’s what it has to offer-

Exteriors- 

The Jetour T2 will receive some changes, including new branding from JSW Motors and minor cosmetic updates. This will be a rugged SUV with a silhouette like the G-Wagon, featuring flared wheel arches and thick body cladding. Apart from international specs, the Indian T2 is expected to get a flat front grille with JSW branding replacing the Jetour logo. To the rear, it could feature vertically stacked LED taillights and an external mount spare wheel. Also, according to Jetour’s internal specs, this SUV might come in striking colours such as Night Black, Sun Orange, Misty Cyan, Lime Green, Silver Snow, and Sand. 

Interiors- 

Inside the cabin, you are expected to be welcomed with a massive 15.6-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver’s display. In addition to this, the electric tailage, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and much more. For driver assistance, it features ADAS Level-2 and a 360-degree camera, which could also make it to the Indian versions. Initial JSW Motors can introduce only the 5-seater variant, but in the near future, it can introduce the 7-seater option. 

Powertrain-

Even though the new automaker plans to take on EV giants in India, but their its first car won’t be fully electric. This SUV will be introduced with a hybrid powertrain, featuring a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine combined with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. This will be a plug-in hybrid vehicle in India, producing about 381bhp and 610Nm torque combined. With this hybrid powertrain, the SUV can run solely on electric power for your daily city runs. Following this, T2 can return upto 125kmpl theoretical, but in reality, you can expect about 18-20kmpl. To tackle rough terrain, this SUV is expected to be offered with AWD, which is not exactly like the traditional 4×4 with low-range. On the flip side, it uses its electric motors to enable off-road capabilities and power all four wheels. The international spec also features four terrain modes, including Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. 

Rivals-

This will compete against a few of the flagship SUVs in India, including the Scorpio N, Tata Safari, and XUV7XO. Considering its rugged nature and off-road capabilities, it can also compete against the Thar Roxx. 

Expected Launch & Pricing- 

JSW Motors is set to make its debut in the Indian market around Diwali 2026, with production expected to begin in August 2026 at its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant. And considering the local assembly, advanced technology and rivals, this SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and 30 lakh.
