Meet MEVA – Toyota Land Cruisers 2026

Mahindra Emirates Vehicle Armouring, or simply MEVA, is the defence and armoured vehicle division of the Mahindra Group. It was established in 2011 as a joint venture among Mahindra, Arabia Holdings Limited, and RAK Transport Investment Co., with manufacturing facilities in the UAE and Jordan.

 So while Mahindra is busy selling SUVs to everyday Indians, one arm of the company is quietly supplying bulletproof vehicles to governments, royal families, and VIPs across the globe.

Why a Toyota?

This is the first question most people ask: Why Toyota? So the word Toyota is enough to define this, because these cars can last a lifetime and go on for generations, because the Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most iconic and capable off-road SUVs in the world. Its reputation for being practically indestructible makes it the preferred choice for politicians, adventure-seekers, and high-profile personalities globally.

MEVA doesn’t manufacture the base vehicle. They take the already legendary Land Cruiser LC300 and transform it into something completely different. Think of it this way: MEVA provides the armour, Toyota provides the bones. Together, the result is something extraordinary.

What Makes These Vehicles So Special? – Toyota Land Cruisers 2026

The armoured Land Cruisers from MEVA carry the VPAM VR7 Edition-3 protection rating, one of the highest internationally accepted ballistic protection standards. Vehicles at this level can withstand 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, the kind fired by automatic weapons like the AK-47. They are also rated CEN B6 and B7, meaning they can handle assault rifle fire and even sniper rifle-level threats. 

And it doesn’t stop there, These vehicles also come with multi-layered ballistic protection using composite and steel layers, along with reinforced housings protecting the engine, battery, and ECU the most critical components of the vehicle, Additional features include a Run-Flat tyre system, fire suppression system, tyre inflation system, battery isolation system, and a protected fuel tank basically everything you’d need if someone were trying to stop your vehicle.

And the best part? The external appearance of the armoured Land Cruiser is kept completely unchanged, so it looks as normal and inconspicuous as possible. Nobody on the street would ever know.

Who Actually Buys These?

These armoured vehicles are mostly purchased by royal families, diplomats, politicians, billionaires, and elite security teams worldwide. Even in India, the culture of armoured vehicles is slowly growing too. A recent example was Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who imported his second armoured Nissan Patrol from the UAE following death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. It just shows how real the demand is becoming, even in India.

MEVA’s Moment of Pride – Toyota Land Cruisers 2026

One of MEVA’s biggest milestones came in 2020 when they launched the Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle, several units of which were purchased by the Indian Defence forces. Anand Mahindra himself tweeted about it, saying that for the folks at MEVA, that single moment was a huge statement from an Indian company, building military-grade armoured vehicles, and supplying them to India’s own armed forces.

Here’s what I personally find fascinating about MEVA: it completely changes how we see Indian companies. We often think of Indian brands as followers, not leaders. But MEVA is a global player in one of the most serious and specialised industries in the world. They aren’t just making products for Indian roads; they are protecting heads of state, diplomats, and VIPs in conflict zones around the world.
