MG Majestor World Record

Ahead of its official launch on 20th April, MG is trying hard to market the Majestor. And in one marketing stunt, it has put the Majestor through a challenging task. This task included pulling a 406.4-tonne train on a rail track. And to make this even more difficult, no modifications were allowed. Usually, when an automaker tries to break records, it tweaks the vehicle ever so slightly to give it a boost, but MG has refrained from doing so.

The MG Majestor has set a world record for towing a 400-tonne train for more than 300 feet on a railway track, which means it is the first SUV to ever do so. But what matters more than the World Record is the reputation it will build for achieving it. This would mean that Fortuner isn’t the only capable off-roader in the segment.

Why is it Impressive?

Firstly, the SUV was on a railway track, which meant that the tyres had less grip with the surface. MG has flaunted the Majestor’s twin-differential a lot, and we can see it being put to good use in such terrains.

Secondly, the elephant in the room is the weight. 406 tonnes is no joke. To put it into perspective, this is equivalent to pulling 185 Fortuners together. The Majestor, being capable of doing this, is a testament to its ruggedness, reliability, and capability.

MG Majestor World Record – Features & Specifications

This achievement was made possible by its 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, which churns out 213 bhp and a healthy 500 Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the wheels using an 8-speed AT and a twin-differential 4WD drivetrain.

While it may be neck and neck in the capabilities department, it has gotten the Fortuner beat in features. The Majestor is equipped with amenities such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, and powered front seats with massage and ventilation. Not to mention that the interior is packed with high-quality materials.

The pricing for the Majestor has yet to be revealed, but we expect it to be priced between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It may be on the expensive side, but you pay this premium so you can pull a 400-tonne train if you ever get the chance.
