New Hyundai SUV Spotted!

The Creta is the obvious choice when it comes to SUVs. But what if you already own one and want a step up? That market gap is currently empty, and Hyundai are planning to fill the gap with this new SUV!

The Hyundai Tucson was spotted testing in Korea recently and looks nothing like its predecessor. From the looks of it, it has grown considerably in size. The tall and boxy stance gives it a strong road presence. The test mule was well camouflaged, making it difficult to spot many details, other than the massive diamond-cut alloys.

Furthermore, the front-end of the production-spec Tucson has been leaked. Its predecessor had divided public opinion because of its looks, and the same could be true of the new generation. The vertical LED-DRLS and low-positioned headlamps give it a futuristic look, but they won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Nevertheless, it would draw attention on the road like no other.

Hyundai Tucson Spotted – Features & Specifications

UK-spec Tucson interior used for reference

The Tucson is expected to be packed with features, including a dual-screen setup, ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera. These features are already available on the Creta, and to give the Tucson more exclusivity, Hyundai could offer a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, Level 2+ ADAS, and 7 airbags.

We expect it to get a 2.0-litre NA petrol mated to a 6-speed AT. However, with the recent rise in hybrid SUVs, Hyundai could also offer a PHEV powertrain. The UK-spec Tucson gets a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with a 13.8kWh battery pack and a 72kW motor. Hyundai has shown interest in bringing a hybrid powertrain to India, and with the imminent launch of the Jetour T2 PHEV in its segment, the Tucson PHEV seems a real possibility.

Expected Launch & Pricing

It is a premium 5-seater SUV that would sit above the Creta and Alcazar in Hyundai’s SUV lineup. The Tucson was discontinued in India last year, but Hyundai will try again and launch the next-gen Tucson soon. It is expected to launch in the latter months of 2026 or early 2027.

We expect the Tucson to be priced around Rs 35 lakh and Rs 42 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It won’t be cheap by any means, but it will fill the gap for people who want a step up from the Creta but don’t want a full-sized SUV like the Fortuner, Kodiaq, Majestor, or Tayron.
