1. Renault Duster CNG – Upcoming CNG SUVs

Renault Duster made a comeback in the Indian Automobile market in March 2026. The SUV is currently available with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It will also get a 1.8-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain by Diwali this year. Despite these options, the segment remains highly sensitive to fuel economy. The French automaker currently offers retrofitted CNG kits on some of its other cars and could do the same with the Duster.
While Renault has not officially confirmed a CNG variant, company representatives have hinted that development depends on sustained consumer interest. Renault could introduce the Duster CNG in 2027 to compete directly with existing offerings such as the Grand Vitara, Victoris and the Hyryder.

2. Tata Sierra CNG

The Tata Sierra was reintroduced in November 2025 and is built on the multi-energy ARGOS platform. One of the multiple fuel options that the platform can accommodate is CNG. The Sierra CNG could come with Tata’s existing twin-cylinder technology, which preserves boot space. Many people have installed after market CNG kit on their Sierra, suggesting high demand. The factory model would likely utilise the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine.
Expected Specifications
- Estimated CNG Output: ~95bhp
- Estimated Launch: Early 2027
- Estimated On-Road Price (Mumbai): ~₹14 lakh – ₹15 lakh
- Expected mileage: 28 km/kg
Features
- Triple-screen cabin architecture with a 12.3-inch co-driver display
- Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
- 12-speaker JBL sound system

3. Hyundai Venue CNG – Upcoming CNG SUVs

The current-generation Hyundai Venue, launched in late 2025, features a turbo-petrol, NA petrol and diesel engine option. Although launched without a CNG option, test mules have been sighted during road trials. The Venue is expected to adopt the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated bi-fuel engine currently used in the Hyundai Exter. To remain competitive with the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai is expected to implement its dual-cylinder storage system to retain cargo capacity.
Expected Specifications
- Estimated CNG Power Output: ~68bhp
- Estimated Launch: Mid 2026
- Estimated On-Road Price (Mumbai): ₹9.7 lakh – ₹11.4 lakh
- Expected mileage: 20-25 km/kg

4. Kia Sonet CNG

The Kia Sonet test vehicles with a CNG sticker have been spotted multiple times. Kia is expected to utilise its 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. The Sonet is long overdue for an update, and we could see the CNG with the next-generation model itself.
Expected Specifications
- Estimated CNG Output: ~68bhp
- Estimated Launch: Late 2026 or early 2027
- Estimated On-Road Price (Mumbai): ₹12.5 lakh – ₹15.9 lakh
- Expected mileage: 20-25 km/kg

5. Kia Syros CNG – Upcoming CNG SUVs

Launched in early 2026, the Kia Syros occupies the space between the Sonet and Seltos. It is currently sold with 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Seeing the growth of the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh price bracket, a CNG expansion is viewed as a vital and strategic move for the brand.
The CNG is likely to be offered alongside a new 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. Offering it with a turbo-petrol engine makes little sense, as it compromises both power and fuel efficiency. The Syros isn’t as popular as its siblings (Sonet and Venue), and Kia could entice customers with a CNG.
Expected Specifications
- Estimated Power: ~68bhp
- Estimated Launch: Mid to late 2027
- Estimated On-Road Price (Mumbai): ₹11.9 lakh – ₹15.4 lakh
- Expected mileage: 20-25 km/kg
Features
- Trinity panoramic display
- Panoramic sunroof
- Front and rear ventilated seats
- 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system
- Level-2 ADAS
