Tata Sierra AWD Launch Date Confirmed? » MotorOctane

Now you must be wondering, the Tata Sierra has already been launched in India, right? Well, that is true. However, there are many possibilities where the Sierra could be launched with a CNG powertrain, or AWD or maybe just a Dark Edition! So what exactly is Tata launching this time? Let’s find out!

Tata Sierra AWD Launching Soon?

Our sources suggest that Tata will likely be launching a new version of the Sierra, on May 19, 2026. Any guesses on what Tata is cooking here? Well, let us save you some time. It will be the Tata Sierra.ev. Tata had confirmed that the Sierra EV would be launched in the first quarter of the financial year 2027, which could be anywhere between April and June. However, our sources have mentioned that Sierra.ev could make its grand entry into the Indian market by mid-May.

It is likely that the Sierra.ev RWD and AWD will be launched together. Tata has been one of the most successful EV makers in India, with the electric versions of the Nexon and Punch yielding some great sales figures. And Tata will look to capitalize on this with the new Sierra.ev. That said, what can we expect from the upcoming electric Sierra?

The Tata Sierra.ev was teased very minutely in one of the ICE Sierra’s teaser, showcasing its drifting abilities in sand. After that, the Sierra.ev has been spotted quite a few times, but in heavily disguised form. Nevertheless, we can expect the Sierra to have a cleaner front end design, an illuminated Tata logo up front, body-coloured grille and much more. While not confirmed, the Tata SUV could get a slightly unique wheel design for a distinctive look. The rear we believe will remain identical to the Sierra. On the features front, we can expect to see the same triple screen setup, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a massive panoramic sunroof, and the list goes on. We could see EV-specific features like V2L and V2V.

Tata Sierra AWD – Powertrain And Pricing

The major highlight would be the powertrain options. Although Tata has still kept these details under wraps, we could expect to see a 55kWh battery pack and a 65kWh battery pack. The 55kWh battery pack could be borrowed from the Curvv.ev, while the 65kWh battery pack will likely come from the lower variants of the Harrier.ev. However, unlike the Harrier EV’s 65kWh variant, which is only available with RWD, Tata will likely offer the electric Sierra with AWD. We could expect to see a single motor setup as well as a dual motor setup with the 65kWh battery pack. The Curvv.ev’s 55kWh battery pack, along with a single motor, produces 165bhp and 215Nm of torque and a claimed range of 502km.

However, for the Sierra.ev, Tata may bump up the performance slightly, and the claimed range could be around 450-480km. In the Harrier.ev, the 65kWh battery pack is paired to a single electric motor producing 236bhp and 315Nm of torque and claimed range of 538km. However, in the Sierra, we can expect slightly better range, considering the Sierra would be a smaller car. It will be interesting to see how much power the electric version of the Sierra QWD setup produces. That said, we believe the Sierra.ev will be quite fun-to-drive and also a capable off-roader if it takes after its elder sibling, the Harrier.ev. That said, we can expect Tata to price the electric Sierra anywhere between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 27.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), making it the most affordable Tata AWD SUV in India.
