Volkswagen Taigun Facelift – Launch Date Confirmed!

When Volkswagen decided to discontinue the Polo and Vento, it left many people disappointed. But the German automaker brought in 2 elite products – the Taigun and the Virtus to make up for it. In the initial stages, they were a great success. But due to increased competition, sales have dropped, and to boost them, Volkswagen is set to unveil the Taigun facelift on 9th April 2026. The Virtus facelift is expected to follow shortly after.

The outgoing model is priced between Rs 13.50 lakh and Rs 22.68 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), and we expect a minor price hike of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 with the facelift.

The Taigun facelift has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. The overall design is a minor refreshment, rather than a major makeover. The front end has been redesigned to match the current Volkswagen design language, while the side and rear profiles remain unchanged. Maybe the changes would be more noticeable without the camouflage on. And we will have to wait until the 9th of April for that.

Taigun Facelift – Expected Features

Since the Kushaq facelift has already been launched, we can make an educated guess on what the Taigun would offer. We expect it to offer amenities like –

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Rear massaging seats
  • Ventilated & powered front seats
  • Electric sunroof as standard
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Alloy wheels as standard
  • 10.25-inch fully-digital driver’s display
  • 10.1-inch infotainment screen
  • Cruise control
  • Wireless charging

The Kushaq misses out on Level-2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera (available only as an accessory), and the Taigun is expected to miss these features as well.

Powertrain

The powertrain options are expected to be carried over from the outgoing model. It would get the same 1.0-litre TSI (114bhp & 178Nm) and 1.5-litre TSI engines (148bhp & 250Nm) on offer. Gearbox options would include a 6-speed manual (on 1.0-litre variants), 7-speed DSG (on 1.5-litre variants) and an all-new 8-speed AT (on 1.0-litre variants).
