Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line

The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line never really caught on in the Indian market because it was a CBU unit. Many people found the price too high to justify buying one over the Fortuner. But Volkswagen is offering big discounts of up to Rs 4.5 lakh. These discounts include a Rs 3.5 lakh cash discount, 50,000 exchange bonus (or a Rs 20,000 scrappage bonus) and a Rs 50,000 loyalty bonus. And for a car that costs Rs 58.51 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), these discounts are pretty decent. If the Tayron exceeds your budget, you can sacrifice a row of seats and save some money with the Tiguan R-Line.

The Tiguan gets a feature list similar to that of the newly launched Tayron. These features include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, a HUD, powered front seats with a massage function, an 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS and much more.

It also shares its powertrain with the Tayron. It gets the 2.0-litre TSI engine (202 bhp & 320 Nm), mated to the beloved 7-speed DSG gearbox and Volkswagen’s 4Motion AWD drivetrain.

Fortuner Rival Discounts – MG Gloster

With the unveiling of the Gloster’s successor, the Majestor, it was very likely that the Gloster sales would dip low. Nonetheless, MG is trying to increase these sales by offering discounts of over Rs 3.7 lakh. These discounts include a cash discount and an exchange bonus. And certain dealerships are also offering an additional corporate discount.

With the Gloster, you get features such as Level-2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and powered front seats with ventilation and massage functions. As for the powertrain, it is offered with either a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (158 bhp & 374 Nm) or a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel (213 bhp & 478 Nm). Both engines get an 8-speed AT as standard. And on the higher variants, you get an option for a 4WD drivetrain.

The Gloster is priced between Rs. 46.50 lakh and Rs 53.13 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). And after you factor in the discounts and its extensive feature list, it sounds like a great deal.
