Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Spotted!

Volkswagen has been one of the most loved brands in India, thanks to its fun-to-drive cars. This time around, it is the Tata Sierra rival, the Taigun facelift, that has been spotted with significant upgrades. For the first time, the upcoming VW SUV has been spotted with much less camouflage, revealing most of the front fascia as well as a few key details of the rear. So, let’s dive into how the Taigun facelift would look!

Design

Until now, the Taigun facelift’s test mule was spotted multiple times, but in heavy camouflage. However, this time, we have a clearer image of what the front of the Taigun looks like. VW seems to have worked on the front fascia quite a bit, and the Taigun facelift seems to get an all-new LED headlight design. This design element closely resembles the bigger VW SUV, Tiguan R-line, with an illuminated VW logo upfront, a connected LED DRL and the headlight design.

VW seems to have revised the front and rear bumper as well. While the rear closely resembles the older Taigun, there are a few changes to the LED taillight, giving it a bolder look. We could expect to see cosmetic changes, like a new alloy wheel design, a rear VW illuminated logo, and a few more. That said, VW will also be offering a plethora of new features with the Taigun facelift, so let’s take a look at the expected features!

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift – Features

Much like the recently unveiled Skoda Kushaq facelift, the Taigun facelift is expected to get a good deal of upgrades on the features front. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, rear massaging seats, a larger touchscreen, a powered co-passenger seat and much more. It will likely retain existing features like ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, ambient lighting and loads more.

Powertrain

The highlight of the Taigun was the fun-to-drive experience, and the facelift will surely retain the same. The Taigun facelift will likely get the same powertrain options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (114bhp & 178Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (148bhp and 250Nm). However, the key difference here will be the gearbox offered with the 1.0-litre TSI. Just like Skoda, VW will likely replace the existing 6-speed AT with an 8-speed TC, like the Kushaq. This could improve the driving experience as well as fuel efficiency. The 7-speed DSG paired with the 1.5-litre TSI engine will remain as it is. With all of these changes, we can expect VW to price the Taigun facelift anywhere between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 23.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
