New Creta Rival Spotted! – JSW Motors SUV

This new brand has been making moves, indicating its launch is not so far off. We have seen brand seeking a dealer network last month, along with teasing their very first car. And it’s gonna be an SUV. Yes, we are talking about JSW Motors. One of their upcoming SUV has been spotted testing. Curious which is this new SUV? Let’s Discuss-

JSW Motors SUV

From the recent sighting, we have identified that JSW Motor has been testing the Chery iCar V23-based SUV. This SUV is a product of the partnership between the latest Indian Automaker and Chery Automobiles, a China-based automobile manufacturer. This might not be the very first SUV from the brand, but it will be here soon. (talk about Jetour T2)

Chery iCar V23 – JSW Motors SUV

Chery iCar V23 is a five-door, compact, boxy SUV. What is interesting here is that the side profile of this SUV resembles the Defender, and from the rear, with its external storage compartment, it looks like a mini G-Wagon. The front fascia features a rounded headlamp with horizontal DRLs and body-coloured elements on the bumper as well. In China, automakers offer this in various colours, which include a Vibe Orange shade, giving this SUV a funky look. 

Inside the cabin, this SUV features modern interiors with a touch of retro design, which many would appreciate. It features the physical controls for the necessary functions and air conditioning. On top of that, it comes with a 15.4-inch infotainment screen powered by a Snapdragon chip, yes, like the one in your smartphone, 360-degree parking camera, heated seats, adaptive cruise control (ADAS suite) and much more. 

Powertrain – JSW Motors SUV

In China, this is sold as an all-electric SUV, offered in two configurations: AWD and RWD. The RWD variant produces 134 bhp and 180 Nm, while the AWD produces 211 bhp and 292 Nm. Along with two different configurations, this SUV is offered with three battery packs: the base version features a 47.28 kWh battery, the middle one features a 59.93 kWh battery, and the top one features an 81.76 kWh battery. Providing 300 to 550 km of claimed range for respective variants. 

Launch & Pricing: 

This SUV has been spotted for the second time around the testing facility, suggesting it could be launched by the end of 2026. With its powertrain and features, this SUV will compete against the upcoming Tata Sierra EV and other EVs in this space. With that said, we can expect JSW Motors to price this somewhere between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Would you pick this unique new SUV over the others?
