New Nissan SUV Spotted Testing

Nissan has already launched a car this year, the Gravite, and it does not wish to stop there. The Japanese automaker is planning to launch another car soon – the Tekton. Its launch was scheduled for February 4th, but was postponed for unknown reasons. But now it has finally been spotted testing, fueling the rumours that the launch is imminent.

The Nissan Tekton will be heavily based on the Renault Duster, which is pretty evident from the test mule. The muscular and brawny stance of the Duster can also be seen on this test mule. The only noticeable difference is the differently shaped taillight. Moreover, the spotted unit is a base-variant, as you can see from the steel wheels and the omission of a sunroof and rear wiper. This means that the base variant also gets LED taillights.

Features & Specifications

We expect an identical feature list on the Tekton to that of the Duster. Some of the expected features include a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a powered tailgate, Level-2 ADAS, ventilated and powered front seats, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and more.
As for the powertrain options, we expect it to be offered with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (99 bhp & 160 Nm) and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (160 bhp & 280 Nm). Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT. However, we are yet to know whether it will be offered with a hybrid option. Renault will introduce the Duster strong-hybrid later this year, and it is very likely to be offered on the Tekton.

New Nissan SUV Spotted – Expected Launch & Pricing

Nissan has yet to give a definitive launch date, but we expect the Tekton to be unveiled later this month. Its pricing will be revealed a few months after the unveiling.
The Duster is set to be officially launched on March 17, which will also help us get an idea of Tekton’s pricing. Speculations suggest that the Tekton will be priced between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This would place it alongside rivals like the Creta, Sierra, Kushaq, Taigun, Elevate and Seltos.
