Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Spotted

Toyota had displayed the FJ Cruiser at the Japan Mobility Show last year, calling it the “Baby Land Cruiser”. Following its showcase, the car was recently spotted testing on public roads in Bangkok. We expect the same model to come to India as well.

As seen in the latest spy shots, the SUV appears unmistakably boxy. The upright proportions, flat panels, and tall stance instantly give away its Land Cruiser lineage. Built on an old school ladder frame chassis, the Land Cruiser FJ will be the tallest model in the Land Cruiser family. Despite being under wraps, you can easily notice the C-shaped tail lamps, a rugged bumper, squared-off wheel arches, and most significantly, the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. On the side, you can also spot a side step along the doors, which are likely to be standard, given the SUV’s tall stance and ground clearance.

Features highlights are likely to include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, and more.

The Land Cruiser FJis is likely to offer a 2.7-litre NA petrol engine (161bhp and 246Nm torque), paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system. Additionally, Toyota is expected to offer the Land Cruiser FJ with a strong-hybrid powertrain.
