New Japanese SUV

We are talking about the all-new Nissan Tekton. Nissan will hope that this SUV will mark its comeback in the Indian SUV market. The current Nissan lineup is pretty slim, with only the Magnite and X-trail on offer. Nissan is planning for a more eventful 2026, with the upcoming launches of the Tekton and the Gravite. So what can we expect from Nissan’s all-new SUV?

New Japanese SUV-Features & Specifications

Renault Duster Interior For Reference

The Tekton will be based on the recently unveiled Duster. Some may consider it the successor of the Nissan Terrano (which was based on the 1st gen Duster). Some features that we expect from the Tekton are a 10.1-inch infotainment display, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered tailgate, ventilated and powered front seats, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof and much more.

We expect the Tekton to be offered with 2 petrol engines- a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (99 bhp & 160 Nm) and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (160bhp & 280Nm). The transmission options might include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT. Speculation suggests that later in 2026, the Tekton will get a hybrid powertrain option. The Tekton hybrid will be powered by a 1.8-litre NA petrol engine mated to a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The hybrid trims will be offered with an 8-speed DHT gearbox.

New Japanese SUV – Expected Price

We expect the Tekton to be priced between Rs 13 Lakh and Rs 26 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). You might have to pay a small premium over the Renault Duster for the Nissan badge. Bookings are expected to commence by April 2026.
