New Renault Duster

The Renault Duster was one of the pioneers of the SUV segment when launched. It is arguably Renault’s most successful project in India, and now they have decided to revive it. Renault has also chosen an auspicious day for the launch: Republic Day (26 January). However, the competition has gotten much tougher since its launch. Renault would have to price the Duster aggressively to keep it competitive with the likes of Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, etc.

Looks And Features

The Renault Duster is already on sale in global markets, which lets us have a look at what the Indian Spec would look like. The crossover-like stance remains with the new version. Overall, the new Duster is a modernised version of the older one, and the overall essence that made it popular remains. The chunky body cladding, muscular bonnet and high ground clearance give it a solid road presence.

Powertrain

The powertrain details remain blurry at the moment, but we expect a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, or a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine to be offered. Moreover, sources have confirmed that the Duster will be offered with a strong hybrid option. In the European market, the Duster gets a 1.6-litre (92bhp) NA petrol engine mated to a 1.2 kWh battery pack & a 47bhp motor. We will see the exact list of powertrains only after the official launch. Rumours also suggest that we could get an AWD drivetrain with the Indian-spec Duster.
