Only a few SUVs in India enjoy the kind of attention and loyalty that this off-roader does. Whether it’s social media, city roads, or weekend trails, it hardly misses the spotlight. And just when things seemed to have settled with the plethora of new launches, Mahindra has stirred up things and launched this special edition for this popular SUV. So what’s special about this new special edition? 

Thar Roxx Star Edition

The Thar Roxx Star Edition was spotted at dealerships a few days ago and created quite a buzz. And now Mahindra have officially launched the Star edition. Mahindra have aesthetic changes, along with an update to the feature list. 

Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx Star Edition priced between Rs 20.50 Lakh and Rs 22.28 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So, what has Mahindra changed with the Star Edition, and what makes it special?

Looks And Features

The big aesthetic change comes with the colour scheme. You get a new Yellow colour option, along with piano black alloy wheels and a piano black grille. The overall butchy stance remains identical, and thus, you get special Star Edition badging to differentiate it from the regular Thar Roxx. 

The feature list for the Star edition has seen an interesting change. On the inside, you get new all-black interiors with features like a 360-degree camera, cruise control, electrically folding ORVMs, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Star Edition sits below the AX5L and misses out on Level-2 ADAS, but it gets features like a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats over the AX5L.

Powertrain 

Mechanically, everything is identical. It gets the same petrol and diesel engine options: a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine (152bhp & 320Nm) and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine (132bhp & 300Nm). While you can get the diesel with either a 6-speed AT or a 6-speed manual, the petrol variant comes with only an automatic transmission. An interesting omission is 4WD. You can’t get the Star edition with 4WD.
