New Skoda SUV Launching Tomorrow

Skoda is all set to launch the most-awaited 2026 Kushaq facelift on 20 January 2026. This launch will mark Skoda’s first launch of the year. The SUV has been teased on social media in the most dramatic way. The car can be seen draped under a cover, with the iconic DDLJ bgm playing, giving a Bollywood-inspired vibe. The visual choice feels deliberate and aimed at creating nostalgia, rather than being technical. Adding to the intrigue is the tagline, “Get ready to fall in love”, displayed prominently.

The teaser itself suggests that this isn’t just a regular facelift, but an attempt to connect emotionally with their customers.

Ever since the launch of the Kushaq in 2021, Skoda has brought very minor tweaks to the car. Due to this, the Kushaq has fallen lightyears behind. Today, we observe that most mid-size SUVs tend to follow a similar design trend with connected LED lights at the front and rear. Brands like Kia and Tata already offer these modern touches with features that are now standard across the segment. With the upcoming facelift, Skoda is expected to address these gaps by introducing design changes and adding new features.

What Can We Expect?

The 2026 Kushaq facelift is expected to retain similar dimensions, but recent spy shots show a wider stance due to a new bumper design. Skoda has been testing camouflaged versions on Indian roads. The new spy shots and teaser also suggest revised connected DRLs, as well as an updated front grille and bumper. The car is also expected to sit on the current 17-inch alloy wheels with a fresh design.

However, as we move to the rear, we see a new illuminated ‘SKODA’ wordmark, flanked by individual lights. Overall, the Kushaq facelift is expected to provide the same shape but with a sharper presence. With the new facelift, Skoda is expected to significantly upgrade the Kushaq’s feature list.

What’s New?

Although the exterior appears to retain the previous silhouette with minor tweaks, the cabin is expected to receive noticeable updates. The Skoda Kushaq is rumoured to finally get a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS. Its other competitors had been offering these features in their SUVs for a while now, and it was high time for Skoda to do the same.

The convenience feature list is expected to remain unchanged, offering a 10-inch touch screen infotainment system, 8-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Another rumoured highlight is a rear-seat massaging function, which will be a segment-first if introduced.

Under the hood, the SUV is likely to have its current engine lineup. The smaller engine is a 1.0-litre TSI (114bhp & 178Nm) and the bigger 1.5-litre TSI (148bhp & 253Nm). The gearbox will include a 6-speed AT and 6-speed MT for the 1.0-litre engine. Interestingly, the 1.0-litre engine may get a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, arriving later in 2026. The 1.5-litre should continue the 7-speed DSG gearbox.

If the updates live up to the speculations, this facelift might just put Skoda back in the thick of the SUV battles.
