Mercedes-Maybach GLS Now Locally Assembled

The SUV in question is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. The Maybach GLS that once cost Rs 3.17 crore will now cost you Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom). This gives the buyers a mind-boggling price difference of Rs. 40 lakh.
The dramatic price drop comes from the strategic shift adopted by Mercedes. Mercedes-Benz has started local assembly of the Maybach GLS in India, shifting away from fully imported models. This step makes India the second market, after the US, where the ultra-luxury SUV is assembled locally. This announcement was made public at the recent launch of a new Celebration Edition of the GLS model, priced at Rs 4.85 crore (on-road Mumbai).
Mercedes-Benz will now be manufacturing the Maybach GLS at their faclity in Pune. The brand has also revealed that they intend to introduce 12 new products in India in 2026. This includes the CLA BEV featuring the MB.OS operating system. The company also plans on estabilishing 15 new dealerships across three markets and improve 15 existing sites.

What Can You Expect?
Despite the price cut, the luxury on offer remains untouched. As you step inside, the rear seat experience takes centre stage. The car gets reclining rear seats with massage, premium leather upholstery, a Burmester 3D sound system, a rear seat entertainment screen, and even a cooled compartment in the armrest. Design highlights include a massive chrome grille, 23-inch alloy wheels, and signature dual-tone paint options.

The car packs a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine under the hood. The engine is capable of producing an impressive 549bhp and 770Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and AWD.
In short, the buyers won’t be getting less luxury, they’ll simply be paying less for it.
Now with the price cut, the Maybach GLS becomes a far more compelling proposition for buyers seeking unmatched comfort and presence.
