Looks

Toyota has a long line of rebadged Maruti models, and the Urban Cruiser EV is one of them. This model is already on sale globally and gives us a clear idea of how the Indian-spec version will look. If you look at it head-on, it has no similarities to the E-Vitara. You get Toyota’s new “hammerhead” front-end and sleek LED headlamps. But as you move to the side, you notice the resemblance to its sibling. The black cladding, connected taillightscrossover stance, and high window sills are common features of the E-Vitara. To maximise aerodynamic efficiency, you get a rear spoiler and aero-friendly alloy wheels.

If not for the Toyota badge, you couldn’t tell it apart from the E-Vitara. Step inside and you are greeted with a floating centre console and a dual-screen cockpit. Other features include ventilated front seats, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a 10-way power driver’s seat, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, etc. The overall build quality and material quality of the cabin. The Urban Cruiser EV is based on the same platform as the E-Vitara. 2 battery options are expected: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery will be mated to a motor producing 144 bhp, while the bigger battery pack delivers 174 bhp. The 61 kWh battery is claimed to have a maximum driving range of 543 km. Rivals

The direct rival is the Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara. We do not yet know the exact price range for the E-Vitara or the Urban Cruiser EV, which makes it difficult to pinpoint its rivals. We expect it to compete against the Tata Curvv EV and Tata Nexon EV. While the Harrier EV, BE6, XEV9S and the Creta Electric will sit in a segment higher.

Launch Date And Pricing

Toyota has officially unveiled the launch date of the Urban Cruiser EV – 19 January 2026. We will be seeing the Urban Cruiser EV on Indian roads very soon. This will be Toyota’s first EV in India.

Pricing has yet to be disclosed, but we expect the Urban Cruiser to cost between Rs 19 Lakhs and Rs 25 Lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). Toyota will have to price it aggressively to stand out in the electric SUV segment.
