Currently, Tata Motors is rivalling the Hyundai Creta with two SUVs – the Sierra & the Curvv. However, it has yet another SUV which offers a VFM proposition that may lure potential Creta buyers. Now, that SUV was recently updated, but the prices have yet to be announced. Similarly, its XUV700 rival was also updated and the prices of which are expected to be announced in January 2026! But what to expect from the prices of these two upcoming Tata SUVs?

New Tata SUVs

Recently, Tata Motors updated its two flagship SUVs with a new engine & features. Yes, we are talking about the Harrier petrol and the Safari petrol. Both these SUVs can now be opted with a 1.5-litre TGDi engine that produces 168bhp & 280Nm. With this engine, Tata Motors is offering a 6-speed manual & a 6-speed automatic transmission options.

Now, in the case of the Harrier, the model is expected to eat some sales of the Creta. Even now, the Harrier has a well-equipped Adventure X variant that offers more features than select Creta variants at this price point. On the other hand, the Adventure X variant of the Safari is well-equipped when compared to similar variants of the XUV700 priced at a similar price point. However, with the new petrol engine that will be offered in each variant of these two SUVs, we expect the Harrier to be a more attractive deal compared to the Creta & the Safari to be an attractive offering against the XUV700! So, here’s a speculation regarding the expected pricing of the Harrier petrol & the Safari petrol.

Harrier Petrol Expected Price

Let’s first talk about the Harrier. Currently, in the diesel avatar, the Harrier is priced between Rs 16.72 lakh & Rs 30.13 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Also, the petrol engine will be offered in all variants of the Harrier, which means that you will have two engine options for every variant of the Harrier.

So, what about the pricing? For that, we can compare the prices of the Sierra petrol and the Sierra diesel as all three SUVs – the Sierra, the Harrier, & the Safari get the same petrol engine. However, the Sierra gets only the AT option, which is priced from Rs 21.30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the Adventure Plus variant. On the other hand, the same variant with diesel AT is priced at Rs 22.26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). That is a price difference of almost Rs 1 lakh. However, the diesel on the Sierra is a 1.5-litre unit while the Harrier/Safari gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is on the expensive side.

So, for the Harrier, we can expect a price difference of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. In that sense, the Harrier petrol could be priced between Rs 15 lakh & Rs 28.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Safari Petrol Expected Price

On the other hand, the Safari diesel is currently priced between Rs 17.50 lakh & Rs 30.97 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The SUV competes directly with the XUV700, which is also offered with a petrol and a diesel engine. The XUV700 is currently priced between 16.50 lakh & Rs 30.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), with a price difference between the XUV700 base petrol MT & the base diesel MT of close to Rs 1 lakh. Similar to what we saw with the Sierra. And mind you, the XUV700 will see a price hike after the launch of the XUV 7XO (facelift), scheduled on the 5th of January 2026.

For Safari, if Tata reduces the prices by at least up to Rs 1.5 lakh, it will be then priced between Rs 16 lakh & Rs 29.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With that, the Safari will be undercutting the base variant of the XUV700 with a handsome difference. That said, these are just the expected price ranges of the Harrier petrol and the Safari petrol. These are the maximum price cuts the potential buyers can expect. There are chances the brand may not price it so low or even go beyond our expectations.
