Indian buyers are very value-conscious when buying a new vehicle and want something that is the best bang for their buck. And yesterday, I found the most value-for-money bike under Rs 2.50 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), and it is none other than the TVS RTX. I was able to ride it and test it out a bit to understand what it has to offer, and I was absolutely blown away by the ADV. So, here’s a short review of the TVS RTX and why I believe this is the only bike you need!

TVS RTX – The Only Bike You Need!

While there has been quite a buzz about the recently launched TVS RTX, not many have actually got the chance to experience it. However, I got the chance to take it for a short spin around a parking lot. While that wasn’t an extensive ride, I was in awe of the bike from the moment I swung my leg on it. As soon as I got onto the saddle, I was amazed by how accessible the bike’s seat height was. For reference, I am just 5 feet 5 inches, while the bike’s seat height on paper is 835mm. However, thanks to the very well-sculpted seat, I was able to manage the bike with ease. Plus, the highlight was the weight distribution – the bike weighs 180kgs, but feels much lighter.

When I started the bike, it roared to life; however, the exhaust note is not the best. Nevertheless, I rode off in urban mode, which offered a more linear power delivery, which helped me get the hang of the bike. Soon after, I switched to Rally mode, which allowed me to experience the immense power. Mind you, the torque isn’t in abundance, but just enough for low-speed performance. I tried redlining the bike to see if there were any vibrations that could unsettle the rider. But the vibrations were minimal, and you’d barely notice them if you weren’t looking for them.
What Shocked Me? – Best Bike Under Rs 2.50 Lakh

What left me speechless was the suspension setup – the bike ate up every speed hump in the parking lot. I didn’t have to slow down for the humps, and I actually managed to get some air time on a much bigger hump, and the bike soaked it in with finesse. Despite that, the bike still feels extremely responsive and nimble, thanks to the new chassis and the immaculate weight distribution. The RTX handled so well that I found myself leaning it on an upward slope – so confidence-inspiring. TVS has absolutely thrashed almost every ADV in the segment with this ride and handling balance – both on and off-road. I might just start liking the roads in Mumbai, just to see this beautiful machine at work – floating and gliding over the terrible pothole-ridden roads.

TVS RTX Road Presence And Design

What also flustered me was the road presence. When a fellow rider was riding, I was stunned by how big and premium it looked. Felt like a Triumph Tiger 660 or a Ducati Multistrada was coming at me. TVS has always been really good when it comes to designing its vehicles, and the RTX is proof of it. Although we were riding the base variant, everything had a premium feel to it.

Best Bang For Your Buck!

Now, I’m saying the RTX is the most value-for-money bike under Rs 2.50 Lakh because even the base variant, which is priced at Rs 2.40 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), is loaded to the brim with features. The base variant gets features like a 5-inch TFT screen, 4 riding modes, traction control, cruise control, front USD forks, turn-by-turn navigation and the list goes on. And, if you are open to paying just Rs 20,000 over the base variant, you get the Top variant. This variant gets additional features like map mirroring, switchable ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, adaptive headlights, and a top rack. The BTO variant, priced at around Rs 2.80 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), adds features such as adjustable suspension, a brass-coated chain, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. So, even the base variant is very well equipped and is a great value for money offering. If anyone is looking to buy an ADV even with the budget of Rs 3 Lakh, I would blindly suggest the RTX without a doubt.
