Upcoming Royal Enfield Rival Teased

So, without us directly telling you about the brand, we will give you a chance to guess – so, the brand who’s popular for its green colour and sporty characteristics. The brand that has a 175cc model currently on sale in India – may be this will be enough for you to guess the brand. And if you haven’t guessed it so far, the brand is Kawasaki. 

Yes, Kawasaki will be introducing a new classic-retro motorcycle and it recently shared a teaser. The model showcased in the teaser is the W230, which is expected to launch in India in the coming year. But will this motorcycle be able to eat a chunk of RE’s sales or will it go unheard? Here’s everything we expect from this motorcycle.

Kawasaki W230 Teased – What’s Cooking?

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary, team Kawasaki published a video featuring the W230 model. This was majorly contemplated that the Japanese two-wheeler maker might introduce this model in the country soon. If things go as planned, the W230 will be slotted above the W175 in the brand’s lineup. 

Regarding the design, the W230 carries the styling from the W family, It gets a classic-retro look, along with a teardrop shaped fuel tank, circular headlights, indications and ORVMs. The motorcycle sits on a 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel having regular RSU front forks and twin shockers at the rear. 

Talking about the features, the motorcycle boasts a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analog speedo and tacho-metre. Apart from that the model carries a 11.73litre fuel tank capacity, 150mm ground clearance, 143 kg kerb weight and 744mm seat height. So, you don’t have to be tall and muscular enough to ride this motorcycle. 

About the 233cc engine, it is a single cylinder, air-cooled engine. The same engine is currently equipped on the Kawasaki KLX 230 in India. This engine is capable of producing 17bhp and 19Nm. However, the gears are limited to 5.

Launch Expectation

Now, there’s no confirmation from the brand at present about launching this motorcycle. However, we expect this model to be introduced with an aggressive pricing to rival the RE’s and Yamaha XSR155 in India. It could be one of the most lively classic motorcycles to ride in India. That said, if everything goes well, we can expect this model entering in 2026 in India.
