First introduced in 2008, the compact sedans have been a blend of comfort and practicality. More than 70% of sedans sold in India are compact sedans. Last month, Maruti Dzire became the 2nd best-selling car, with 21,082 units sold. Dzire has been people’s choice for years now, making it the best-selling sedan. What’s the reason behind the high sales of the Maruti Dzire? Here is the list of the reasons why people get the Dzire:
Exterior:

The latest generation of the Dzire offers a modern, sharp look, with a new front grille, revised Bumpers, LED headlamps and DRLs, rear featuring refreshed tail lamps and a boot lip spoiler. Both the front and rear ends feature chrome inserts, and the Dzire’s top trim rides on the dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheel set. All these design features give it an upmarket feel.
Interior and Features:

Dzire comes equipped with features such as a 9-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, automatic climate control, and an electric sunroof. For additional driver assistance, it offers cruise control, steering-mounted controls, and a 360-degree camera. Making it a feature-packed product at a reasonable price.
Powertrain:

Powertrain is the primary reason for the Dzire’s sales, as it offers class-leading fuel efficiency across all fuel types. It features a 1.2L Z-series engine with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. This engine is offered in two fuel types: petrol, producing 79 HP and 112 Nm, and CNG+Petrol, producing 68 HP and 101 Nm (in CNG Mode).
What’s so special about it?
Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been providing exceptional value for money to Indians for years now. A significant factor contributing to higher sales is fuel efficiency, as the Dzire leads the segment with its CNG powertrain offering 33.3 kmpl and petrol offering 25.71 kmpl which is even higher than that of some bikes in the market. This efficiency, combined with lower ownership costs and a nationwide service network, has built trust over the years. Its popularity in the Cab industry has also contributed significantly to its sales figures. Dzire also became the first Maruti to secure 5-star safety ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP. This improved Maruti Suzuki’s safety image. Maruti Suzuki’s 5-star rating was a bold statement in the industry. Maruti brought together all the necessary elements right for the Indian Consumer, marking its success in the segment.
Rivals to the Dzire:
The Compact Sedan segment offers three options besides the Dzire. The Hyundai Aura is the second-best-selling sedan in the country, ranked below the Dzire, but the sales figures show a massive gap between the two. Other competitors include the Tata Tigor, the only compact sedan with an electric powertrain and the Honda Amaze, which offers better performance.
Pricing:
Dzire prices start at 7.37 lakh and go up to 10.89 lakh (on-road Mumbai). This price tag, with its features and low cost of ownership, makes it a value-for-money package for most consumers, aligning with the practical nature of its cabin and driving feel.
