Something new has just come up, the American manufacturer Ford is set to partner with Renault. Under this partnership, both brands will develop new cars. What is really cooking between these automakers? Let’s know –

Ford Partner With Renault – 

Under this partnership, the automakers will be targeting to develop new small cars, more specifically electric ones. In the coming time, the brand will extend the lineup with inclusion of a few vans and other commercial vehicles. However, the current focus remains on developing small electric cars. Out of which two Ford branded electric cars are ready to kick off the things. 

Ford is currently witnessing a surge in the development costs to invest in electric as well as ICE powertrains. Hence, this partnership will cut down the investments in EV powertrain development and platform sharing. The upcoming Ford vehicles will be based on Renault’s Ampere (AmpR) platform. This platform is currently underpinned by several Renault’s electric vehicles.

What’s The Plan For India?

Now, even before you ask us – this partnership is solely done to counter the Chinese EV dominance in Europe. That said, at present, both the manufacturers will be relying to develop newer electric car models, the first two will be launched by 2028. Yes, we would need to wait for a time being. Moreover, there’s no official confirmation if both the brands will be looking to extend this partnership to India. 

Apart from that, Ford has also not given any official hint about its official entry in India. This suggests, there is still some time before we see newer cars from this American automaker running in India.
