Scorpio 4 Lakh Kilometre Run – Really?

A recent video shocked us, when we saw a Mahindra Scorpio clocked 4,25,000kms on the odometer.

This video made us curious about how the owner managed to keep it maintained for such a long run. It is mainly what we see with Japanese cars like Honda or Toyota. But this Scorpio has shunned everyone who thinks Indian cars are unreliable!

In the video, we can see a 2014 Scorpiol, which even though being more than 10 years old, is maintained quite well.

Now the said kilometres covered by this Scorpio will make you wonder – Engine kaisa hai? Well, for this, the owner claims that the engine is still running smoothly and has not witnessed major power loss.

Another common question that you may ask is – Mileage kitna deti hai?

To which, the owner responds that the Scorpio still delivers around 14kmpl in city & highway conditions. This is a respectable figure, considering the distance it has covered!

So overall, the heart of the SUV is still not old & yes, the owner has maintained it quite well!

Total Ownership Cost

Although the engine has not troubled the owner, he had to spend over Rs 50 lakh on the car. The first one being most common is the rusting issue – majorly in monsoon. And this SUV here has witnessed 10 such monsoons.

Also, to cover such a remarkable distance, the tyres have played an important role. The owner says that the SUV is currently running on the 4th set of tires! Yes, the tyres were changed four times, the first replacement came at 90,000 km.

Other common expenses the owner had to borne were – fuel cost & service cost. So, to cover 4.25 lakh km, the owner had to burn around Rs 25 lakh for diesel! On the other hand, the owner still pays an amount ranging between Rs 9,000 & Rs 15,000 for the service – not bad for an SUV covering such a distance!

Overall, the owner had to spend over Rs 50 lakh on the Scorpio which includes – service cost, tyre replacement cost, repair of rusted parts, fuel cost & other miscellaneous costs. Obviously you would need to spend some amount if you want it to run over a long period.

Now, this instance is a slap in the face of someone who says Indian cars are unreliable. Every car can be your better partner if you maintain it well.
