5 Upcoming SUVs – JSW T2

This will be India’s first affordable plug-in hybrid SUV, which will be boxy and a game-changer. Based on the Jetour T2 – this will be JSW’s first vehicle for the Indian car market. The T2 will not just offer amazing road presence. It shall also offer best-in-class features and technology that most cars offer at double the price. JSW in the initial few years will be re-badging some of the Chinese cars; however, they are very clear about offering more and more Indian-made and locally built vehicles in the coming years. Kia Sorento

Hyundai and Kia are localising their large-sized SUVs for the Indian car market. The Kia Sorento will be the first such offering, and it will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine and 1.5- litre turbo petrol engine options. This will be a 5-seater SUV, which will come at a price of about Rs 35-42 lakhs for the Indian audience. The Kia Sorento will not just offer good technology, but start the building of a new segment, which is a premium 5-seater SUV, which at the moment isn’t very strong. 5 Upcoming SUVs – JSW-MG XUV7XO Competition

The MG Hector has been struggling with its low mileage on petrol, no diesel automatic option. This is one reason why the company, under the leadership of JSW, will be getting a new plug-in-hybrid in India. Again, this will be the second plug-in hybrid that is coming into India from JSW, and it will be made available in a more affordable segment, which is Rs 30-35 lakhs approx. This will give the buyers more mileage and better options in the market over the existing competition SUVs. It will compete with Safari and XUV7XO and shall be a game changer in terms of technology that will be offered on this new SUV.

Toyota Fortuner

The new Toyota Fortuner will be unveiled in Thailand by mid-2026 and in India by late 2026 or early 2027. There will be a lot of new technology that will come with the Fortuner, which was missing. But to sum it up, it shall be closer to what the Hycross is offering today. So, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and a larger touchscreen will be optional.

In terms of engines, there won’t be a hybrid; it will be more of the regular 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engine options on offer. The Fortuner won’t be much different in terms of engine options.

New-gen Tata Nexon: Tata Motors will be looking at new-get Nexon in the coming 6-10 months. Our understanding is that the current gen Nexon has aged, and there is a plan to revive it. The Nexon, if offered on a new-gen platform, will be a game-changer, as it will enhance the SUV’s ride and handling even further. The Nexon will have all petrol, diesel, CNG and electric options and will continue to be one of the best-selling SUVs in the country. The new Nexon is likely to share its platform with the Sierra and get some interior design cues as well
