3 Big & Spacious SUVs Coming To Rival Fortuner! » MotorOctane

Fortuner has been one of the favourite SUVs of India. However, to challenge the almighty SUV, these three carmakers are gearing up with strong new rivals set to arrive in 2026. So, which are these new SUVs? Here’s what you should know about the rivals.

Fortuner Rivals- MG Majestor

The MG Majestor is the first in our list rivaling the Fortuner in the full-size SUV segment. Positioned above the MG Gloster, it is speculated to offer a bold design with a large grille, 20-inch alloy wheels and strong road presence. Inside, the Majestor is expected to focus more on comfort and technology with a three-row cabin, dual 12.3-inch screens, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS and more. All these features combined make it far more feature-rich than the Fortuner.

Under the hood, the Majestor is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine (215bhp & 500Nm torque). The global variant of Majestor comes with a 4WD and 8-speed Automatic gearbox as standard, but MG might offer an RWD manual option in India to lower the pricing. We expect the pricing to be between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (on-road Mumbai), making it a compelling premium alternative to the Toyota Fortuner.

The VW Tayron is another upcoming SUV that can rival the Toyota Fortuner. For starters, think of it as a bigger, family friendly version of the VW Tiguan R-Line. The SUV shares the same MQB EVO platform as the Tiguan R-Line, but with a longer wheelbase of 2,789mm. 15-inch floating touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS with ventilated seats and massage functions.

In terms of powertrain, the Tayron is expected to use a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing around 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. The Tayron R-Line will roll out as a CKD, helping keep the prices competitive around the price tag of Rs. 50 lakh (on-road Mumbai).

Last but not least, we have the Skoda Kodiaq RS on the list, a 7-seater SUV that will take on the Toyota Fortuner. Essentially, the VW Tayron R-Line and the Kodiaq RS are based on the same platform. However, the Kodiaq RS will be suitable for those who want a more powerful and sporty SUV. Under the hood is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 261bhp and 400Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG, making it impressively quick. The Skoda Kodiaq RS is coming to India in Q2 2026, perfect for buyers who want massive cabin space and a fun-to-drive car in one. It gets bold styling with blacked out grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers along with a premium interior featuring ventilated leather seats, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a fully digital driver’s display.

Unlike the regular Kodiaq, the RS will be a CBU unit attracting a premium price tag ranging between Rs 65 lakh & Rs 70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The pricing, combined with the feature package, makes the Kodiaq RS a sporty and premium alternative to the Toyota Fortuner.
