Hyundai Creta was a bit worried already after the launch of Tata Sierra. But, soon two new SUVs are going to put Creta in more trouble! These SUVs are none other than the Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton. Duster’s comeback and Nissan’s new entrant are surely going to make the competition exciting and also confusing (for the buyers) to choose a good car. But, that’s all about the future – what we recently had was a spy shot where both the Creta rivals were spotted just besides each other. What all do the spy shots say? Let’s have a look –

Upcoming SUVs In India – Duster & Tekton Spotted Side By Side

Both the upcoming Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton were a sight to be looked at. And as both the SUVs were spotted on Indian roads, there’s a 100 percent probability that a Creta would also join the party – and that happened. 

Firstly let’s talk about the upcoming SUVs. In the spy-shots we can see the rear of both Duster and Tekton standing side-by-side. And the only difference will be the colour of camouflage! Really it looks like a sight where we are playing the game of finding the differences. Both the SUVs are built on the same platform – CMF-B, and share all the parts and powertrains. The major distinguishing factor is said to be the designing details – but as both the models were camouflaged, we couldn’t have a sight of its design. 

Apart from that, we can easily see that both the SUVs completely look-alike each other. The rear design, the spoiler, door latch on the pillar, shark fin, the rear wiper, the tailgate design are completely similar. Some changes that can be pointed out is that the alloys. Obviously the tail lamp and head lamp designs will also be different but for it we would have to rip off the camouflage. What we can say, both the SUVs have a good profile – but Creta looks a little classier in both of them, surely as the upcoming SUVs were covered.

What To Expect?

Now, the above part was about the spy-shots, let’s move to what all things do we expect these two new SUVs to have. Firstly, let’s be clear, both the SUVs will share a certain suite of features – being a badge engineering product. The brands will surely try to fit in all the tech feature suites to make it more lucrative for buyers. Some features that we expect on the model include – premium audio setup, premium seat upholstery, 360-degree camera, automatic AC, level 2 ADAS, powered tailgate, wireless charger and more in its package. 

Surely, the brands will also focus on the safety side of things – so we expect both the SUVs won’t be compromised in terms of that. 

Talking about the powertrains – expect the popular 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, or a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine. On the other hand, there have been talks about a strong hybrid powertrain option to be in the consideration. Globally, the Duster comes with a 1.6-litre NA petrol engine (92bhp), which is paired with a 1.2 kWh battery pack & a 47bhp motor. Together, the engine produces 138bhp of power.

Launch & Pricing

So, when should you wait for these SUVs? Well, Renault has already revealed that the Duster will be launched on 26th January. While Nissan is yet to give out a confirmed launch date for its Tekton – according to us, it might be launched by mid 2026. 

Talking about the pricing, the Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton are expected to have similar pricing. Both the brands have already tried to work on offering affordable choices in the Indian market – with that both these SUVs are expected to be priced between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
