New Tata SUV Spotted

“Sierra” –  that’s what everyone is talking about lately. Bringing back the iconic name has worked in Tata’s favour, but Tata won’t stop there. It will further monetise the name with the upcoming Sierra.ev. A test mule was recently spotted testing on Indian roads ahead of its launch in April.

The test mule has been heavily camouflage but by the looks of it, Tata hasn’t changed much with the ICE version. The distinct boxy stance can be spotted from a mile away. But minor changes like a closed-off grille, aero-friendly alloys, and tweaks at the front and rear to set it apart from the ICE version.

Like the ICE version, the Sierra.ev will be loaded with features such as Level-2+ ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a triple-screen dashboard layout with 2 12.3-inch infotainment displays and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated and powered front seats, a powered tailgate, a 360-degree parking camera, and much more.

The Sierra.ev will be based on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, so you can expect the utmost safety. As for the battery packs, two options are expected: a 55kWh pack (from the Curvv.ev) and a 65kWh pack (from the Harrier.ev). The claimed figures for the options would be around 490-500 km for the 55kWh variant and 540-550 km for the 65kWh trim.

Upcoming Tata Cars – Tiago.EV Spotted

The Tiago.ev is one of the cheapest EVs in the Indian market. And its sales have been quite steady over the years. It was particularly surprising to find out that the Tiago was the 5th best-selling EV last month, despite not receiving any major updates since its launch in 2022. And now, Tata has deemed that the time for change has come, as its facelift has been recently spotted testing.

What gives it away that as the Tiago.ev facelift is the “MH 14 (where Tata’s manufacturing plant is situated)” registered number plate and the simple design language. From the images, we can see that it is more of a refresh than a complete makeover. While the overall design language remains the same, the headlights get some changes. The old unit has been replaced with sharper LED DRLs. Moreover, we can spot a bulge in the roof, suggesting the facelift could include an electric sunroof. Furthermore, the covered wheels indicate that it will get aero-friendly alloys as well.

The outgoing model is pretty barebones when compared to some other Tata models. We expect a fully-revised dashboard layout, along with features such as an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a digital driver’s display, a reverse parking camera, and 6 airbags.

Tata will update the powertrain options, and we expect it to be offered with 24kWh and 30kWh packs. The range figures for these battery packs would be around 315km and 365km, respectively.

Tata has officially announced the Sierra.ev will be launched by April-June (Q1 of FY2027). But speculation suggests it could be launched as early as April. Expect Tata to price it competitively between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Due to the launch of the Sierra.ev, Tata will delay the Tiago.ev’s launch till late 2026. Despite the facelift, it will remain one of the most affordable EVs in the market. It could be priced between Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
